Following in the Footsteps of Cezanne
Born in 1839 in Aix-en-Provence, Cezanne made a big impression on the art world and on his hometown where bronze medallions are embedded in the sidewalks in his honor.
We will make our artistic pilgrimmage to the studio of Cezanne with its easels and fruit bowls arranged as if Cezanne had just stepped out. Of particular interest is the long narrow window he had constructed on the side of his second story studio so that he could move large canvases in and out of the room.
The visitor is left with the feeling that they've just stepped out of a Cezanne painting themselves.
It's a pretty cool and inspiring experience to walk in the footsteps and visit the stomping grounds of great artists but nothing improves our own art more than actually putting pen or paint to paper.
We will be going back to the hilltops of Provence very soon and you're invited! To learn more about our upcoming painting holidays and sketching retreats subscribe to our monthly newsletter.
