Sketch La Maison Herzog with Brenda Murray
In this workshop we will be sketching the quirky and beautiful house of the French mountaineer, Maurice Herzog. Maurice and another fellow were the first to scale the 8000 metre Annapurna peak in Nepal in 1950. I stumbled upon the house when I visited Chamonix, France in 2024. It is now the Maison des Artistes, a place where musicians can stay and record music. I was impressed with its steep roof mirroring Mont Blanc that you can see behind it. I love to sketch the odd shapes of this building set in its tranquil and very colourful background. Students will get an over-the-shoulder view and can sketch along with Brenda from the reference photo below. This is going to be fun!
