What do you Plan to do When You Retire?
What do you Plan to do When You Retire? The most common answer to that question is travel more. Everyone daydreams about faraway places because we all want to get inspired, meet new people, try new foods and learn about another culture. Next spring a small group of like-minded artists (of all ages) will be exploring Costa Brava, Spain and taking a 5-day pastel art class with Bryan Jernigan. It's going to be fun!
Located in northeastern Spain along the Mediterranean coast, Costa Brava is most well known for its beautiful beaches, rugged coastline and crystal-clear water. We’re looking forward to spending a day on one of the most beautiful beaches in the area—sketching from life and relaxing.
But the area is also dotted with charming coastal villages characterized by narrow streets, whitewashed buildings, and traditional Catalan architecture and we will be sure to explore some of them: Calella de Palafrugell, Tossa de Mar, Pals and Besalú to see them first-hand.
Of course we have to try some of the local dishes such as taps de Cadaqués (a tiny sponge cake topped with powdered sugar and rum), or xuixos (a fried croissant-like pastry filled with pastry cream) and paella.
And then there is art—the most important part! We will be learning about soft pastels from US Art Instructor, Bryan Jernigan. From our home-base in Girona we will travel by private coach to our workshop locations where Bryan will patiently explain his process and give us tips as we try it ourselves.
Spouses and nonSketcher companions are welcome but these mornng art classes are your time because you deserve something that is just for you.
This artist’s vacation is equal parts art class and cultural experience and you will be inspired! For more info click HERE. We hope to see you there!
