Day 1 Arrive in Vienna
Monday September 9
Welcome to Vienna. We will be staying at the centrally located, 4-star hotel the Mercure Grand Hotel Biedermeier Wien, Landstrasser Hauptstrasse 28, 1030, Vienna. Students will settle into their accommodations then meet before dinner for a "Meet & Greet" in the hotel (wine & finger food included).
Day 2 Schönbrunn Palace Grand Tour and Hofburg Palace
Tuesday September 10
After a delicious breakfast in the hotel, we will take a Hop On Hop Off bus to Schönbrunn Palace, the 18th century center of court life where we will meet in the gardens for Workshop #1 “Sketching 101". Afterwards we will enjoy the palace Grand Tour (admission included) through the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site. In the afternoon, we will take the Hop on Hop off bus to Hofburg, the former imperial palace and sketch in the area. In the evening enjoy a quiet dinner with your new sketching friends.
Day 3 Sketching Art Nouveau, Hundertwasser Haus and the River Danube
Wednesday September 11
Oliver will teach Workshop #2, “Pimp Your Watercolors” in the morning and sketch the Art Nouveau Otto Wagner Pavillion at Karlsplatz (admission included). After lunch we will visit Hundertwasser House, an apartment built in the Expressionist style (outside only) and Kunsthaus Museum (admission included). Optional: an early evening visit depending on weather to Strandbarherrmann "Beach” Bar for further free sketching.
Day 4 Museum Quartier and the Naschmarkt
Thursday September 12
In the morning Oliver will teach Workshop #3 "How to Draw Expressive Figures" in the vicinity of Museumsquartier and then we will walk to Naschmarkt, a vast market originating in the 16th century to sketch the lively crowds. With more than 100 food and vintage stalls plus restaurants, we face the big decision--where best to have lunch? In the afternoon enjoy free sketching at a Viennese coffee shop or wander through one of the nearby museums: the Schiele Museum or the Art History Museum (admission included).
Day 5 All-day Excursion to Kreuzenstein Castle and Klosterneuburg Monastery
Friday September 13
Today we will take a one-hour tour of the Austrian countryside by private coach for an all-day excursion to the fairytale Kreuzenstein Castle and Klosterneuburg Monastery. The Kreuzenstein Castle dates back to the 12th century. (Bus departs at 9:30 and returns at 5:30).
On the way back we will stop at Austria's oldest winery, Klosterneuburg Monastery, where we will enjoy a grand tour, a wine cellar tour and wine tasting. The Klosterneuburg Monastery was founded in 1114 by Saint Leopold III of Babenberg, the patron saint of Austria. Oliver will teach Workshop #4 "Reportage/Travel Sketching" on site. We will assemble a Reportage/ Travel Sketch of the day trip and Oliver will teach how throughout the day.
Day 6 St. Stephen's Cathedral, the Imperial Vault and an Inner City Sketchwalk

In the afternoon enjoy a sketchwalk in the Inner City and assemble it into “Your Vienna” using the tools learned. In the evening we will travel by subway and tram to our farewell dinner held at Kierlinger, a famous Austrian restaurant, for a 3-course menu including ¼ l. wine per person.
