The French Alps with Hazel Soan--Inspiring and Fun!

We have just returned from our French Alps Vacation Workshop with Hazel Soan and are still basking in the glow of an amazing experience! "It was a dream come true," is the feedback we had from workshop participant Christine. And we had to agree--it was the perfect vacation workshop in a gorgeous location with a fabulous group of plein air painters--so much fun!

Surrounded as we were by the French Alps on a crystal clear, turquoise lake the setting couldn't be more inspirational. Every cobbled street in our medieval town was 100% sketchable. We explored and toured and painted alpine lakes and boats, castles, a medieval prison, a gorge, and the snow capped Alps, clock towers, archways, tiled roof lines and people. 

Of course, there was a lot to absorb and you could see it in the faces of the students as we huddled around Hazel Soan, our amazing instructor. 

How to lay in washes, lift paint off, capture people quickly, paint a believable sailboat mast in the wink of an eye--we all gained new tips and inspiration that will stay with us for a long time. We can't wait to return to the gorgeous French Alps!
